About Us
CENTER FOR RELIGIOUS AND HISTORICAL STUDIES
“CEREHIS” is a non-profit organization founded in 2015 in Košice, Slovakia, dedicated to promoting historical awareness, critical thinking, and the prevention of religious and ethnic intolerance through innovative educational methods.
Our goal is to learn about our own historical heritage as well as foreign cultures. Our activities include lectures, digitization projects, developing participants‘ intercultural competence and building understanding of foreign cultures.
To achieve these goals, we use modern technology, interactive tools, and digital platforms to make education accessible to a wide range of audiences, regardless of location or background.
Our activities:
Public Lectures
Conferences and Seminars
Publications
Educational programmes focusing on intercultural education
Partnerships with Schools, Institutions and Universities
Main projects:
Intercultural education
We offer courses in intercultural education designed for both the general public and professionals. Our curriculum covers key topics such as cultural differences and stereotypes, culture shock, intercultural education, intercultural communication, and conflict management. These courses combine theory and practice through interactive lessons.
The theoretical component draws on the latest knowledge in the field, supported by our strong academic foundation in the humanities. In the practical component, we engage participants using innovative methods such as gamification, workshops, and role-playing activities. These dynamic approaches allow participants to internalize the material and apply their knowledge in simulated real-life scenarios.
Our courses are continuously updated to reflect the latest research and teaching methodologies, ensuring that we deliver relevant, impactful content. They are ideal for anyone interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds in educational, business, or informal settings. By fostering a deeper understanding of cultural diversity, these courses can help build stronger relationships and navigate the complexities of a multicultural world.
Consultations for companies
We offer the opportunity for companies to conduct a workshop on improving intercultural relations in the company, setting up PR strategies to reduce prejudice and help in building a tolerant environment.
Digitization of cultural heritage
Since October 2019, the nonprofit organization Cerehis has been dedicated to the digitization of the Andrássy family archive in collaboration with Gróf Andrássy Gyula Alapítvány. The goal of this project is to preserve this historical family archive in digital form for future generations. The oldest documents in the collection date back to 1290 and include a variety of historical materials, such as accounting books, maps, and family photographs.
The project focuses on protecting and making these documents accessible through digitization, allowing them to be used in research, publications, and exhibitions. The resulting digital library, which will comprise over one million pages, is intended to serve both the general public and academic audiences. This initiative plays a significant role in safeguarding cultural heritage and opens new avenues for collaborations and educational projects within the realm of digital humanities.
Cerehis is also expanding its efforts in the preservation of cultural heritage by exploring new methods of digitizing and archiving historical materials, ensuring that cultural wealth is preserved for future generations.

SENET AND MEHEN – SENET AND MEHEN – original ancient Egyptian games, which we present in the framework of education with aim to present leisure time of the inhabitants of ancient Egypt to modern audience.
The project stimulates interest in cultural heritage and children’s interest in history.
